IT maturity assessment

… is a good first step, but it won’t be enough. There’s always the chance that the process is incomplete, or that the business has additional questions. The IT maturity assessment will give you a snapshot of where the IT organization is in its maturity challenge. To help you on your way, we’ve put together a list of questions you should be asking the IT team about your process maturity assessment. These are just a few of the many things the IT team will likely want to know about your IT maturity assessment.

How long has the organization had the IT maturity assessment?

The IT maturity assessment will give you a quick snapshot of where the IT organization is in its maturity assessment. With some careful management of IT processes and tools, IT can quickly and accurately be viewed as a maturity level competitor.

What is the maturity profile of the organization?

While the maturity assessment is useful in identifying a critical maturity level for the organization, it is unlikely that either the general manager or the IT will be able point to specific areas where improvements can be made. Thus, you can rely on our experts for maturity assessment, who will give you a profound snapshot of where the IT organization is in its maturity assessment.

What is the maturity challenge?

While the challenge presents an interesting set of challenges, the real prize is to discover where the IT is at the maturity stage and what needs to change to reach the next level.

How do we prepare you for an IT maturity assessment?

The first step is to define the problem domain and the stakeholders (auditors, customers, and suppliers). Once you’ve defined the problem domain and defined the stakeholders, you can proceed to develop a maturity challenge. The maturity assessment will give you a snapshot of where the IT organization is at the maturity stage. However, before we move on to the second stage, our experts first look at the use-cases for today’s dynamic IT environment.

What is the Active Business-Driven Mode?

Our Active Business-Driven Mode (ABDM) is a highly automated process that is used to manage large scale IT projects. It involves gathering information from a variety of sources, including internal, external, and finally, information from the customers and suppliers. In a typical Active Business-Driven Mode project, the IT organization actively seeks feedback and uses it to improve IT maturity. The process provides an objective, repeatable marker for evaluating an IT organization against its peers.

Because of this, IT maturity in an ABDM project can be viewed in a number of ways. One approach is to view IT as a monolithic entity with a single management structure. Another approach is to view IT as a collection of loosely coordinated IT activities and habits. Finally, a third approach is to view IT as a tightly integrated, horizontally scalable IT enterprise. In each of these three approaches, the IT organization attempts to maximize utilization of its vertically integrated asset stream. The vertically integrated asset stream is comprised of system resources (usually data centers), as well as software and hardware that is commonly utilized for system administration and resource management. The software and hardware that is commonly utilized for resource management is typically located in the development or operations centers. The vertically integrated asset stream also provides a level of maturity that is difficult to replicate in the case of an IT organization.

For example, one of the challenges of developing an online presence is the distributed information and the sheer volume of mail that needs to be delivered. In a CMDB deployment, the sheer volume of mail could be controlled by a central processor and distributed more effectively across the organization. This could be used in conjunction with an ABDM project. Then, the sheer volume of data and dependencies that need to be stored and managed could be centrally managed by a provider and distributed throughout the organization. Given the inherent limitations of a lot of concepts, we believe that a CMDB deployment is a superior approach for enterprise use cases. It offers the following benefits:

  • Integrated CMDB: Provides a common interface to store and retrieve CMDB data.
  • Automated CMDB setup and management: Allows for a highly consistent CMDB setup and management across the enterprise.
  • No CMDB setup or management migration: There is no need to alter CMDB setup or maintenance procedures for each new CMDB deployment.
  • No CMDB setup or maintenance risk: There is no risk of CMDB setup or maintenance failure.
  • No CMDB vulnerability scanning: There is no need to re-schedule CMDB vulnerability scans.
  • No need to redo CMDB setup or maintenance procedures: There is no need to re-schedule CMDB setup or maintenance procedures.
  • No CMDB incident management: There is no need to re-schedule CMDB incident management.
  • No need to redo CMDB Triage: There is no need to re-schedule CMDB Triage.
